With a DisplayPort 1.2 host, the Cable Matters USB-C Dual DisplayPort 1.4 Multiport Adapter can output to a single monitor with 144hz refresh rate at 1440p or 1080p resolution. With a DisplayPort 1.4 host, the Cable Matters USB-C Dual DisplayPort 1.4 Multiport Adapter can output to dual 1080p monitors at 144hz refresh rate. The Cable Matters USB-C Dual DisplayPort 1.4 Multiport Adapter does not support dual 2560x1440 monitors at 144hz. With a DP 1.4 host that supports Display Stream Compression (DSC), the Cable Matters Dual DisplayPort 1.4 USB-C Hub will support 4K@144hz YCBCR422 8bpc when a single DP monitor is connected. Since the adapter reserves two lanes of data for High-Speed USB data, there are only two lanes available for video data. To reduce the signal bandwidth enough for two lanes of data, color data must be sacrificed. This process is called chroma subsampling and does not harshly impact the quality of the picture.
