The Cable Matters Thunderbolt 3 Docking Station is an indispensable productivity tool for laptops and computers with Thunderbolt 3 ports. Utilize the full 40Gbps potential of Thunderbolt 3 to connect up to two 4K displays, USB-C and USB 3.1 peripherals, a wired Ethernet network, and audio. Backward compatibility allows the dock to double as a USB Type-C docking station when connected to a computer lacking a Thunderbolt 3 port.

Important notes

Computers running Chrome OS are not compatible with the Dock
An active DisplayPort to HDMI / DVI adapter is required to convert from DP to HDMI / DVI. Passive adapters or cables are not compatible.
When used on a PC with only a USB-C port and no Thunderbolt 3 port, the host PC must support DisplayPort Alternate Mode and USB Power Delivery. Monitor resolutions are limited to two HD@60Hz displays on Windows, or one 4K@30Hz monitor on macOS
Mac computers with the new M1 chip support only a single external display. This is a limitation of the Mac computer hardware.

Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C Support

The Thunderbolt 3 docking station doubles as a USB-C docking station for computers that lack a Thunderbolt 3 port. The following resolutions are supported:

Thunderbolt Mode (Windows/Linux/Mac) 1x 5K@60Hz or 2x 4K@60Hz

USB-C Mode (Windows/Linux) 1x 4K@30Hz or 2x 1080p@60Hz

USB-C Mode (Mac) 1x 4K@30Hz

USB 3.1 Gen 2 Speeds

The dock features one 10Gbps USB-3.1 Gen. 2 USB-A port, and two 10Gbps USB 3.1 Gen 2 USB-C ports
