The Innovative USB4 Switch Features Bus Powered Operation and an RF Remote Control
Southborough, Massachusetts, August 8, 2024
Cable Matters®, a leader in developing cutting-edge connectivity solutions, introduces a USB4 20Gbps Switch, meeting the diverse needs of today's dynamic remote workforce. This versatile, powerful device seamlessly blends performance, adaptability, and cost-efficiency, offering users an unparalleled connectivity solution.
“The vision of this product grew from the needs of today’s remote workforce,” says Jeff Jiang, CEO of Cable Matters. “People are doing more than ever with multiple devices and require connectivity solutions that provide performance and flexibility at an affordable price.” Unlike traditional switches, the USB4 20Gbps Switch is engineered to handle two USB-C, USB4, or Thunderbolt enabled devices concurrently, effortlessly scaling to match the demands of gadget-intensive users. Users can instantly share a USB-C, USB4 or Thunderbolt monitor or docking station between two devices, and easily switch between them using either the unit’s button or the included remote control.
Here are some key features of the switch:
No power adapter is required for operation.
The switch supports a 20Gbps throughput and is not compatible with 40Gbps signals. For optimal functionality, it comes with two USB4 20Gbps cables.
It supports high video resolutions up to 8K at 30Hz and multiple resolutions including 6144x3456 at 60Hz, 5128x2880 at 60Hz, and 3840x2160 at up to 144Hz provided DSC is activated in the video chain.
The switch offers 140W Power Delivery (PD) charging, capable of meeting the power needs of most portable devices, making it extremely useful for users with high-power requirements.
It includes an RF remote control for convenient switching between devices without the need for extra cables.
The switching time between macOS and Windows systems is efficient, approximately 12 seconds on macOS and 7 seconds on Windows. This is only slightly slower (< 1 second) than direct monitor connections.
The launch of the USB4 20Gbps Switch represents a significant shift in the digital connectivity market. With this innovation, Cable Matters continues to exhibit its commitment to delivering high-quality, cost-effective connectivity solutions for everyday needs, fulfilling its mission of empowering the world's remote workforce.

Cable Matters Unveils USB-C® KVM Switch Dock for Two Devices
The innovative product combines the performance of a USB-C dock and the flexibility of a USB-C switch into one space-saving and productivity-enhancing connectivity solution.
Southborough, Massachusetts, September 5, 2023
Cable Matters®, an industry-leading connectivity solutions supplier, today unveiled one of the first USB-C® Keyboard, Video, Mouse (KVM) switch docks for two computers.
The Cable Matters USB-C KVM Switch Dock lets two devices share a single keyboard and mouse, charger, peripherals, and two ultra high definition displays over a single USB-C connection. It combines the performance of a USB-C dock, which offers a one-cable connectivity solution, with the flexibility of a USB-C switch, which shares peripherals between multiple devices.
The KVM Switch Dock will revolutionize the work from home experience, which is plagued by two common connectivity challenges. Many business-class laptops lack essential display or peripheral ports. Remote workers sharing a workspace with their business and personal devices struggle for space or constantly hot swap work and personal laptops between shared USB peripherals and monitors.
Cable Matters’ KVM Switch Dock solves both of these problems. The dock instantly adds ultra high definition DisplayPort™ and HDMI video ports, a 3.5mm audio port, six USB-A ports, one USB-C port, and SD/MicroSD card slots to up to two USB-C devices. All connected peripherals and displays can be switched between the two connected host devices with the press of a button on the dock or the included wireless remote, eliminating the need for hot swapping or an extra switch.
“The vision of this product grew from the needs of today’s remote workforce,” said Cable Matters President and CEO Jeff Jiang. “People are doing more than ever with multiple devices and require connectivity solutions that provide performance and flexibility at an affordable price.”
With the latest in display and connectivity technology, the USB-C KVM Switch Dock offers unmatched performance over a single USB-C cable. It features a single 8K@30Hz or 4K@144Hz display, or dual 4K@60Hz displays. Dual USB-C Power Delivery charging supports 100W charging of one device or 65W charging of both devices simultaneously. The front panel USB-C and USB-A ports support 10Gbps data transfer and device charging.

Cable Matters Unveils Active USB4™ Cable with 40Gbps Bandwidth Support
Long active cable, perfect for docking stations and monitors, will launch in Q2 2022
Southborough, Massachusetts, January 5, 2022
In an appearance at CES 2022 in Las Vegas, Cable Matters®, an industry-leading connectivity solutions supplier, today unveiled one of the first active 3-meter USB4™ cables with full 40Gbps support.
The Cable Matters USB4™ Active Cable comes in a 3m / 9.8ft length. The cable features an active signal repeater to preserve the full 40Gbps USB4 signal across the cable to overcome the limitations of traditional copper cables.
USB4 is the newest and most advanced USB version, offering bandwidth capabilities of up to 40Gbps over the versatile USB-C connector. The high bandwidth demands of USB4 limit traditional passive copper cables to a typical length of 1m / 3.3ft. The active cable engineered by Cable Matters triples the effective length of the cable.
The Cable Matters USB4 Active Cable is fully compatible with Thunderbolt™ 4 and Thunderbolt 3 devices and backward compatible with USB-C. The cable brings high-performance 40Gbps connectivity to USB4 and Thunderbolt adapters, docking stations, flash drives, and monitors.
This innovative cable fills a missing link in the market for long high bandwidth USB4 cables for docking stations and monitors. In the past, docking station and USB-C monitor users had to keep their devices close to their computers due to short cable lengths. The Cable Matters USB4 Active Cable enables power users to route their docking station away from their workstation or conceal equipment under their desk or in a drawer. It is also ideal for USB-C and Thunderbolt monitors, offering up to 8K 60Hz or 4K 144Hz video support.
“This active USB4 cable with Thunderbolt 4 support is the perfect companion cable for a docking station, and brings unparalleled flexibility to both USB-C and Thunderbolt devices,” said Cable Matters President and CEO Jeff Jiang.
Product demos are available throughout CES at the Cable Matters booth, located at LVCC Central Hall 15973. The cable will be released in Q2 2022 on Amazon and CableMatters.com.

Cable Matters Launches USB-C® KVM Switch with 8K or Dual 4K Video Support
KVM switch supports up to two USB-C host devices and up to 4 USB peripherals
Southborough, Massachusetts, September 21, 2021
Cable Matters®, an industry-leading connectivity solutions supplier, today launched an innovative one-device keyboard, video, and mouse sharing switch for USB-C devices.
The Cable Matters® USB-C® KVM Switch for 2 Computers with HDMI®, DisplayPort™, and 4 x USB 3.0 Ports is the perfect space-saving accessory for managing multiple USB-C laptops or tablets in a single, unified workspace. The switch allows two computers or tablets to share a single set of monitors, a keyboard and mouse, and other USB peripherals. A built-in switcher button and wireless remote control enable seamless, fast device swapping.
“The Cable Matters KVM switch is the perfect productivity tool for work-from-home or hybrid workers,” said Cable Matters President and CEO Jeff Jiang. “The KVM switch is ideal for remote workers wishing to use multiple devices for work and play at the same desktop.”
KVM switches of the past required connecting multiple data and video cables to each computer separately, reducing flexibility, portability, and compatibility. The Cable Matters USB-C KVM leverages the data and video transmission capabilities of USB-C to carry video and USB data over a single cable. Now, swapping devices is a breeze with only a single standard cable. The switch is compatible with a wide array of devices with USB-C video support, including laptops, smartphones, tablets, and desktops.
The switch is the perfect companion accessory for hybrid and remote workers. Now, workers can unify a desktop PC and work laptop with a single set of peripherals and monitors. The flexibility offered by the KVM switch enables remote workers to save space and work and play from a single workspace.
The KVM switch also functions as a dual video adapter with a DisplayPort and HDMI port supporting dual 4K 60Hz monitors or a single 8K monitor. Share USB peripherals at speeds of up to 5Gbps for fast file and data transfer.

Cable Matters Launches 8K USB-C® Hub with HDMI® Support
USB-C Hub is one of the first to support 4K 120Hz and 8K over HDMI
Southborough, Massachusetts, August 24, 2021
Cable Matters®, an industry-leading connectivity solutions supplier, today launched one of the first USB-C® hubs with support for 4K 120Hz and 8K video as specified in HDMI® 2.1.
The Cable Matters USB-C® Multiport Adapter transforms a single USB-C port into a video and peripheral powerhouse. The portable docking station instantly adds a Gigabit Ethernet port, two 5Gbps USB-A ports, and an HDMI port to a USB-C-enabled device. The hub can drive a 4K 120Hz television or an 8K monitor and supports USB-C Power Delivery for pass-through host charging of up to 100W.
"The USB-C Multiport Adapter is one of the first USB-C hubs with support for 4K 120Hz and 8K video over HDMI," said Cable Matters President and CEO Jeff Jiang. "It is the perfect productivity accessory for gamers and mobile workers."
As display technology rapidly advances, tech enthusiasts have struggled with driving the latest ultra-high-resolution displays and televisions. Gamers and content creators wishing to connect their laptops to 4K 120Hz televisions relied on single-port USB-C to HDMI adapters because most existing hubs only support 4K 30Hz. This reduces the utility and versatility of USB-C and increases costs.
The Cable Matters USB-C dock overcomes this limitation by providing a one-adapter solution for 4K 120Hz and 8K video, 5Gbps USB peripherals, and gigabit networking all in one. Now, gamers can connect lag-free gigabit Ethernet, USB video game controllers, and a 4K 120Hz television or 8K monitor into a single USB-C port. The multiport adapter is the ultimate productivity and entertainment accessory for work and play over USB-C. It is the perfect choice for business workers in hybrid workplaces as well.

Cable Matters also launched the USB-C® to Dual HDMI® Adapter. It leverages the latest standard as specified in HDMI 2.1 to support up to an 8K resolution on one HDMI port. Both USB-C adapters support dual 4K 60Hz monitors if two video ports are in use at the same time, providing the ultimate multi-monitor solution for the serious worker or gamer.
These dual video adapters are perfect for hybrid or remote workers wishing to extend their workspace, boost productivity, and work and play. Turn a standard laptop into a high-quality, high-resolution multi-monitor workstation with an adapter small enough to bring to the office and the home office. The combination of DisplayPort and HDMI ports is the perfect solution for work and play – connect the adapter to a 4K office monitor by day and a 4K TV by night for gaming and streaming.
The USB-C adapters are fully compatible with tablets, smartphones, and Windows computers and laptops with USB-C, Thunderbolt™ 4, or USB4™ ports. The adapters are also compatible with Mac computers in single video mode.
The adapters are just two entries in Cable Matters’ line of 8K video products, representing Cable Matters’ commitment to providing innovative connectivity solutions for the latest in cutting-edge consumer electronics.

Cable Matters Launches Ultra High Speed Fiber Optic HDMI® Cable for Next-Gen Gaming
The active optical cable provides extra distance and supports 8K video as specified in HDMI 2.1
Southborough, Massachusetts, March 30, 2021
Cable Matters®, an industry-leading supplier of connectivity solutions, today launched an active optical HDMI® cable designed for next-generation gaming and media. The Cable Matters Active HDMI Fiber Optic Cable is one of the longest certified Ultra High Speed HDMI cables on the market with full 8K 60Hz and 4K 120Hz resolution support as specified in HDMI 2.1.
HDMI 2.1 opens up a new world of possibilities by more than doubling the bandwidth of the HDMI 2.0 standard. With 48Gbps of bandwidth, HDMI 2.1 features support for ultra high resolution 8K video and blazing-fast 4K 120Hz refresh rates. But one thing has been missing from the HDMI ecosystem: Longer cables.
With the increased bandwidth as specified in HDMI 2.1, traditional copper cables do not cut it at longer distances. Unlike older HDMI standards, 48Gbps HDMI cables can only be so long before the signal integrity suffers – usually around 3 meters at normal thickness. This can be problematic for gamers and home theater enthusiasts who need to connect distant 8K A/V equipment and game consoles.
The fiber optic HDMI cable utilizes active optical modules developed by Silicon Line to enable long-distance connectivity without the need for external power. Gamers and film buffs can enjoy unmatched HDMI performance without bandwidth loss or signal degradation. The cable is available in a 5-meter and 10-meter length, providing maximum flexibility for every media center or gaming setup.
The optical fiber HDMI cable is Designed for Xbox with extensive testing for compatibility with Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. The cable is also compatible with other HDMI devices and 4K and 8K televisions. It is certified under the Ultra High Speed HDMI® Cable Certification Program.
“This active optical HDMI cable is the first on the market Designed for Xbox,” said Cable Matters President and CEO Jeff Jiang. “The innovative fiber optic technology provides unmatched 8K and 4K 120Hz performance for competitive and casual gamers alike.”
The Cable Matters Active HDMI Fiber Optic Cable is just one entry in Cable Matters’ line of 8K video products, representing Cable Matters’ commitment to providing innovative connectivity solutions for the latest in cutting edge consumer electronics.

Cable Matters Launches First Thunderbolt™ 4 Cable in a 6.6-foot length
Cable Matters cable pushes the limits of new Thunderbolt™ 4 technology
Southborough, Massachusetts, February 5, 2021
Cable Matters®, an industry-leading supplier of connectivity solutions, today launched the first 40 Gbps Thunderbolt™ 4 cable in a 2-meter/6.6-foot length – the longest Thunderbolt 4 cable length available on the market.
The Cable Matters Thunderbolt™ 4 Cable – 6.6 Feet combines the latest in Thunderbolt technology with a repeater chipset to push the length limits of the latest Thunderbolt standard. Existing passive cables lack protection from signal degradation at longer distances and typically max out at around 0.8 meters/2.6 feet. Cable Matters’ cable uses a repeater chipset to boost the signal, preventing signal degradation and overcoming the cable length limit. The cable is manufactured by Lintes Technology Co., Ltd., and sold by Cable Matters.
“Cable Matters Thunderbolt 4 cable is the first on the market in a 6.6-foot length,” said Jeff Jiang, President of Cable Matters. “Cable Matters is committed to bringing innovative products to market featuring the latest in consumer electronics technology. This cable will allow consumers to enjoy all Thunderbolt 4 has to offer at distances unmatched by existing cables.”
Consumers can take full advantage of Thunderbolt 4’s guaranteed 40Gbps of bandwidth for demanding devices – including multiple 4K monitors or one 8K monitor – up to 100W of charging power for power-hungry devices, and support for a variety of peripherals like docking stations and external hard drives – all at distances not possible with traditional passive cables.
“Thunderbolt 4 delivers industry-leading capabilities for connecting computers to data, video and power with simplicity, reliability, and great performance. Now, Cable Matters provides the much-desired added flexibility of enabling greater distance as well,“ said Jason Ziller, Intel Client Connectivity Division General Manager
The Thunderbolt 4 cable also fully supports USB4™, and is both Thunderbolt 4 and USB-IF certified. The cable can take advantage of the latest USB standard, offering up to 40Gbps bandwidth, up to 100W Power Delivery charging, and DisplayPort and PCIe Tunneling – depending on host and device capabilities. The cable is also backward compatible with USB 3, USB 2.0, and Thunderbolt 3.
The Cable Matters Thunderbolt 4 Cable is one of the first entries in Cable Matters’ line of Thunderbolt 4 products, representing Cable Matters’ commitment to providing innovative connectivity solutions for the latest in cutting-edge consumer electronics.

Cable Matters Launches USB-C® Video Adapter Supporting 8K Resolution
USB-C Video Adapter is among the first to support 8K video as specified in HDMI® 2.1
Southborough, Massachusetts, January 5, 2021
Cable Matters®, an industry-leading supplier of connectivity solutions, today launched one of the first USB-C® video adapters on the market to support the 8K resolution as specified in HDMI® 2.1. The Cable Matters USB-C Video Adapter extends USB-C’s versatility to drive the latest 8K and 4K 120Hz displays.
The adapter fills a growing demand for high resolution, high refresh rate video over USB-C. While there are many adapters on the market, few of them support blazing-fast 4K 120Hz displays or ultra high resolution 8K displays as specified in HDMI 2.1. Most existing adapters lack support for more advanced features.
Cable Matters’ new adapter supports 8K video as specified in HDMI 2.1. The adapter offers more than 2.5x the bandwidth of older models – enough to drive 8K displays at 30Hz and 4K displays at up to 120Hz without any loss in picture quality – all though the versatile USB-C connector commonly found on laptops, smartphones, tablets, and desktop computers.
“Cable Matters’ USB-C video adapter is among the first to offer 8K performance as specified in HDMI 2.1 over USB-C,” said Cable Matters President and CEO Jeff Jiang. “As USB-C and display resolutions beyond 4K become ubiquitous, customers can trust Cable Matters to deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions at the cutting edge of consumer electronics.”
The adapter is ideal for portability. Its sleek design and small form factor enable it to fit in a laptop or tablet carrying case. Cable Matters will launch a USB-C Video Cable supporting 8K as specified in HDMI 2.1 in early 2021. The cable is perfect for a more permanent installation in a home office or entertainment center.
Both products utilize the Cayenne family of USB-C video interfaces created by Synaptics®. The Cayenne chipset provides advanced video features like HDR, ultra high definition resolutions, and fast refresh rates in a secure, universal, low-cost, and low-power design.
“Synaptics’ Cayenne chipset enables companies like Cable Matters to provide reliable, high-bandwidth video solutions that push the performance envelope,” said Synaptics Senior Marketing Director for Video Interface Products, Jeff Lukanc. “We are proud to work with Cable Matters to bring the industry’s first converter chipset supporting 8K as specified in HDMI 2.1 to market with a leading brand in the consumer electronics industry.”
The Cable Matters USB-C Video Adapter and Cable are just a few entries in Cable Matters’ line of 8K video products, representing Cable Matters’ commitment to providing innovative connectivity solutions for the latest in cutting edge consumer electronics.

Cable Matters Launches Active USB-C® Cables for Virtual Reality Headsets
Active USB-C cables extend and expand the possibilities of VR
Southborough, Massachusetts, October 13, 2020
Cable Matters®, an industry-leading supplier of connectivity solutions, today launched a new line of active USB-C® cables built for compatibility with the Oculus® Quest 2 VR headset.
The Cable Matters Active USB-C Cable and the Cable Matters Active USB-A to USB-C Cable are specifically designed for compatibility with the Oculus Quest 2’s Oculus Link cable feature. This feature lets gamers enjoy graphically intense PC VR games on the Oculus Quest 2 VR headset through a tethered USB connection to a gaming PC. The cables come in a 5-meter/16.4-foot length for creating the largest wired VR play space possible.
Some standalone VR headsets like the Oculus Quest 2 can use a USB-C cable to leverage the power of a PC or laptop. Traditional USB-C cables can only be so long before the signal degrades – usually around 2 meters/6.6 feet. Gamers demanding a large VR play space often find existing USB-C cables come up short because most are passive and cannot prevent signal degradation over long distances.
An active chipset provides a reliable, error-free signal over distances not possible with conventional USB-C cables. The cables deliver the performance and reliability required for a flawless VR experience, all at a fraction of the cost of a fiber optic USB-C cable.
The cables feature a 90-degree connector positioned for a non-intrusive fit on VR headsets, over-molded strain relief for maximum durability during intense movement, and support for 5Gbps of bandwidth. The new cables come in two versions: a USB-C to USB-C cable for gamers with the latest USB-C ports on their laptops or desktops, and a USB-A to USB-C cable for laptops and desktops with standard USB-A ports.
These cables are just one of many new entries in Cable Matters’ expanding line of 8K and VR products, representing Cable Matters’ commitment to providing innovative connectivity solutions for the latest in cutting-edge consumer electronics.

Cable Matters Launches 4-Port USB-C® and USB 3.1 Ethernet Switches
Hybrid USB to Ethernet adapters and switches can connect up to four devices to a wired network
Southborough, Massachusetts, July 9, 2020
Cable Matters®, an industry-leading supplier of connectivity solutions, today launched two USB-based Ethernet switches designed to connect up to four devices to a wired Ethernet network through USB and RJ45 Ethernet.
The Cable Matters USB 3.1 to 4-port Gigabit Ethernet Adapter and the Cable Matters USB-C® to 4-port Gigabit Ethernet Adapter are full-featured USB to Ethernet adapters. Both products provide Ethernet networking to a host laptop, computer, or game console that lacks a built-in Ethernet port.
What separates these adapters from typical USB to Ethernet adapters is the addition of three extra Ethernet ports. Three additional devices can connect to the adapter via Ethernet, allowing up to four devices to share a single wired Ethernet connection to a router or wall jack. The adapter doubles as a 4-port switch by connecting up to four unique devices to a wired network.
The Ethernet switch is an ideal solution for sharing wired Internet access when wireless is unavailable, or in environments where multiple devices demand high-speed, low-latency network access. Connect game consoles, televisions, and streaming devices at an entertainment center. Bring the Gigabit Ethernet switch to the conference room and share wired Internet access with up to four devices.
The Ethernet splitter is bus-powered and draws power from the USB host, which eliminates the need for a bulky power plug. Both adapters take advantage of full USB 3.1 speeds, providing full 1Gbps Ethernet speeds on the USB host and Ethernet devices. A 20-inch USB cable length provides flexibility, and the adapter includes an adhesive mounting strip for permanent installation and a drawstring carrying pouch for on-the-go mobile transport.

Cable Matters Launches Its First All-In-One Thunderbolt™ 3 and USB-C® Docking Station
New docking station seamlessly switches between Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C modes
Southborough, Massachusetts, May 5, 2020
Cable Matters®, an industry-leading supplier of connectivity solutions, today launched a new all-in-one Thunderbolt™ 3 and USB-C® docking station, solving a costly compatibility problem in the docking station market. The new Cable Matters Thunderbolt 3 Docking Station with Dual 4K DisplayPort™ & 60W Power Delivery takes advantage of a dedicated chipset to seamlessly switch between full Thunderbolt 3 mode and USB-C mode depending on the capability of the host device.
Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C share the same plug form factor but are very different technologies. Thunderbolt 3 boasts 40Gbps of high-speed bandwidth — up to four times as much bandwidth as USB-C only. Until now, Thunderbolt 3 docking stations were only compatible with laptops with Thunderbolt 3. Consumers searching for an all-in-one solution for multiple devices either compromised with a slower device or purchased two docking stations.
Taking advantage of the Intel Titan Ridge chipset, the docking station detects if the connected host supports Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C only, and automatically switches its operation mode to accommodate either connection. This solution allows consumers to use the docking station with a high-performance laptop with Thunderbolt 3 ports, and their USB-C devices.
The docking station features two DisplayPort ports for connecting external monitors, two USB-C ports for connecting smartphones and USB-C devices, three USB-A ports for connecting flash drives, mice, and other peripherals, a 3.5mm audio jack for connecting headphones or a headset, and a Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 port for 1Gbps wired network access. One USB-A and the two USB-C ports support speeds of up to 10Gbps, while previous Thunderbolt 3 docking stations were limited to 5Gbps USB ports. The host USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 connector features Power Delivery support, which can charge the host device with up to 60W of power.
Docking station features include:
Thunderbolt 3 Mode: 40Gbps bandwidth, supporting up to one 5K@60Hz display or dual 4K@60 displays
USB-C Mode (Windows/Linux): 10Gbps bandwidth, supporting up to one 4K@30Hz display or dual 1080p@60Hz displays
USB-C Mode (Mac): 10Gbps bandwidth, supporting up to one 4K@30Hz display
The Cable Matters Thunderbolt 3 Docking Station with Dual 4K DisplayPort & 60W Power Delivery is now available for purchase at CableMatters.com.

Cable Matters introduces Active USB-C™ Cables with 4K Video, up to 10 Gbps Data, and Power Delivery
Southborough, Massachusetts, July 30, 2019
Cable Matters®, an industry-leading supplier of connectivity solutions, announced new additions to their line of custom-designed USB-C products. The Cable Matters Active USB-C Cable in a 10-foot length is available now and the Cable Matters Active USB-C Extension Cable in a 6-foot length will be available at the end of September. Both full-featured USB-C cables support 4K video, a data transfer rate up to 10 Gbps, and 60-watt power delivery.
The USB-C Cable that does MORE
Newer models of Mac® and Windows® notebooks have only a few USB-C or Thunderbolt™ 3 ports. Charging, data transfer and external video often require plugging and unplugging multiple cables and adapters for each function. The latest version of USB-C does more over a single USB-C cable. Now you can charge, transfer files and stream 4K video over the same cable.
Isn’t USB-C just USB-C?
USB-C cables can be full-featured, active or passive. The majority of USB-C cables can only offer limited data transfer up to 6 feet since they are passive. An active USB-C cable uses a signal booster to provide data transfer up to 10 Gbps over longer distances. Our full-featured active USB-C cable delivers video + charging + data transfer over a single cable.
Plug & Play to a 4K Display or USB-C Docking Station
Connect to an Ultrawide 4K monitor with an integrated USB-C hub or a USB-C docking station for video and data over a single cable. Power and charge a notebook up to 60 watts with pass-through power from the USB-C monitor or docking station.
Up to 10 Gbps @ 10 Feet
10 Gbps is the current maximum data transfer rate for USB-C cables. This is twice the speed of the previous version of USB-C cables. Now you can utilize all the capabilities of the USB-C port on your laptop with a single cable. The Cable Matters Active USB-C Cable comes in a convenient 10-foot length to free up space on your desktop. Switch to an active USB-C cable instead of using multiple dongles for each function.
Full-Featured Active USB-C
“Our Cable Matters Active USB-C Cables are among the first USB-C cables on the market that support 4K video, up to 10 Gbps data and 60-watt power delivery in a 10-foot length. We constantly push the boundaries of our USB-C offerings to provide the best connectivity solutions for our customers.” - Jeff Jiang, President of Cable Matters

Cable Matters introduces a Dual 4K Video USB-C™ Docking Station for the MacBook Pro®
-Does your MacBook Pro only have four ports?
Southborough, Massachusetts, June 6, 2019
Cable Matters®, an industry-leading supplier of connectivity solutions, announced a new addition to their line of custom-designed USB-C products. The Cable Matters Dual-Input USB-C Docking Station with Dual 4K Video & 80W Power Delivery provides a clever and economical solution for MacBook Pro users to connect two 4K monitors with HDMI®. Unlike other USB-C docking stations, this USB-C docking station uses two USB-C ports to support a second display with the MacBook Pro.
USB-C Dongle Dilemma
Notebook users face the challenge of connecting voice, data, and Ethernet networking to the latest Mac and Windows notebooks with only USB-C or Thunderbolt™ 3 ports. Bandwidth ranges from 40Gbps on a Thunderbolt 3 port to 10Gbps on a USB-C port. Notebook charging, data transfer and external video require plugging and unplugging multiple cables and adapters for each function. Organize your desktop and reduce stress on your USB-C ports with this Dual-Input USB-C Docking Station.
Plug & Play at Dual 4K
While other USB-C docking stations use video graphics drivers or other PC technology to support dual video, this Dual-Input USB-C Docking Station uses two USB-C ports to connect two 4K monitors. The MacBook Pro or MacBook Air® with Retina® display can mirror or extend to both displays without fear of losing compatibility with a macOS® software update.
Throttle Up or Down with a Dynamic Bandwidth Switch
A 4K/30Hz or 4K/60Hz switch adjusts the bandwidth to support different video resolution settings and data transfer rate speeds with the following options:
1. Two 4K@60Hz displays with a data transfer rate limited to USB 2.0 (480Mbps) speed with 480Mbps Ethernet 2. One 4K@30Hz + One 4K@60Hz display, full USB 3.0 and USB 3.1 data transfer speeds, and Gigabit Ethernet
Thunderbolt 3 docking stations can cost up to 50% more than this Dual-Input USB-C Docking Station while still requiring an adapter for the second display. This USB-C docking station maximizes your investment with support for a MacBook Pro and Windows® PC with Thunderbolt 3, a Google Pixelbook®, or another computer with only USB-C.
Dual-Input USB-C Docking Station Functions:
Dual HDMI Video
80-Watt Power Delivery
microSD and UHS-II SD Card Readers
Ethernet Networking
USB-A & USB-C Gen 2 Data & Charging
Audio In/Out

Cable Matters Launches High Speed Cable & Adapter Products for Connecting an 8K TV or Monitor
- Are you ready for 8K video?
Southborough, Massachusetts, May 6,2019
Cable Matters®, an industry-leading supplier of connectivity solutions, announced new 8K additions to their line of ultra-high definition video cables and adapters.
Does 8K Video Matter?
8K OLED TVs are currently for sale. These sleek 55-inch to 98-inch displays, with a wide viewing angle up to 160°, require the clearest contrast and color depths on such a large screen. Even with 4K content upscaled by the TV, the picture can be distorted if the video information is not transmitted quickly and accurately.
Bandwidth Bandwagon for Video Streaming& Gaming
4K video streaming boxes and high-end gaming consoles push the bandwidth limit of cables to a 4K UHD TV or an ultrawide gaming monitor. 8K-rated video cables and adapters can accommodate the extreme bandwidth demands of today’s 4K video including 7.1 surround sound audio and HDR high dynamic range color depth support. Gamers can eliminate distortion and lag when connecting a video graphics card to a high refresh rate 144Hz gaming monitor.
Reliable Connectivity at Any Speed
“We focus on delivering connectivity solutions to support the latest innovations in consumer electronics. 8K video is the next step for streaming video, gaming and video editing. We offer 8K cabling solutions for home theater equipment, videographics cards and computers with USB-C.”- Jeff Jiang, President of Cable Matters
